1. ELIGIBILITY
Mecum Auctions, Inc. will issue media credentials to members of the working media. By definition, a member of the working media shall be a paid employee or representative of a known and established media organization.

Journalists who receive media credentials must be on assignment for a reputable media organization. Journalists who wish to attend a Mecum Auction may request a media credential by submitting an email to pr@mecum.com. Journalists who apply for media credentials acknowledge that they have read and agree to these media guidelines and Mecum Auctions’ Professional Journalism Policy. Freelance journalists must be on assignment at the Mecum Auction and shall submit the media credential request with contact information for their assigning editor or producer. Organizations may request more than one media credential. Mecum Auctions does not guarantee that media credentials will be awarded to a media organization that applies for media credentials.

2. APPLICATION DEADLINES
Preferably, media credential requests shall be received by Mecum Auctions two (2) weeks in advance of the Mecum Auctions’ event for which the media credential is requested. When approved, the media credential/s and additional information will be sent by USPS to the address for the applying organization. If the request is not able to be processed within seven (7) days in advance of the Mecum Auctions’ event, the media credential will be processed on site of the event.

3. CREDENTIAL ACCEPTANCE
Mecum Auctions welcomes all media to attend Mecum Auctions’ events. Mecum Auctions does not limit the number of media credentials issued for its events. However, each credential application will be reviewed and evaluated based on the following criteria:
	1. Print and/or web-based media organizations serving the collector car, restoration, and auto industry
	2. Media organizations serving a general national audience or the local daily/weekly print, network affiliate/cable TV, and also radio media of the host city for the Mecum Auction event
	3. Print and/or web-based entertainment media organizations serving the Mecum Auction host city

Following the completion of the online application, an email will be sent to the applicant to confirm the approval or declination of the media credential. Media credentials will be sent to the applicant or editor within one (1) week from the date of Mecum Auction.

4. CREDENTIAL USAGE
Credentials must be worn and visible at all times during the event. Each credential is issued specifically for the media organization that was issued the media credential. Media credentials are not transferable and may not be given or loaned to another media organization or individual for any reason. Credentialed media will receive admission to the event, access to the consigned items to be auctioned at the event, and access to the media work room, if available. Misuse of a Mecum Auctions media credential will result in the immediate loss of the media credential, removal from the media areas, and also the possible loss of media credential privileges for future Mecum Auctions for the media representative and the credentialed media organization.

5. INTERVIEW POLICY
Requests for Interviews with representatives of Mecum Auctions and consignors of items auctions at Mecum Auctions events should be directed via email to David Morton (dmorton@mecum.com) or Christine Giovingo (cgiovingo@mecum.com). Mecum Auctions will attempt to facilitate each interview request within 24 hours of the receipt of the written request. Interview requests discussed by phone will be responded to and coordinated via email.

6. PHOTOGRAPHERS
Photographers must be on assignment for an established media organization and also use professional camera equipment to be permitted to photograph the consigned items at a Mecum Auction. No lighting or other equipment will be permitted at Mecum Auctions events unless approved in advance by a representative of Mecum Auctions’ Marketing Department on-site at the event. Access to consigned items that are blocked by stanchions must be approved by a representative of Mecum Auctions.
All photographs taken at Mecum Auctions are to be used solely for editorial purposes by the publication and/or website for which a media representative is credentialed, unless he/she is otherwise granted express written consent by Mecum Auctions, the owner of the consigned item photographed, and also the media organization for which he/she is credentialed. Without such consent, it is prohibited for any photograph taken in association with a Mecum Auction to be sold for use in any commercial manner. Photographs taken at Mecum Auctions events also are not to be provided to any other media outlet, organization or individual unless permission is granted by Mecum Auctions, the owner of the consigned item photographed, and also the media organization for which he/she is credentialed. Photography is for editorial use only and cannot be published otherwise.

Failure to comply with the previously stated regulations will result in the immediate loss of media credential privileges for all future Mecum Auctions. Additionally, the media outlet listed could lose the ability to credential a photographer at Mecum Auctions.

7. DIGITAL
Media credentials for websites staffed by fulltime employees with the intent of reporting for news purposes shall be considered on a case‐by‐case basis. Websites that run parallel to traditional media (daily/weekly newspapers, TV stations, etc.) may be issued a media credential if the request is for unique content that can only be accommodated by fulfilling the media credential request. Other requirements for websites seeking media credentials to Mecum Auctions are:
	1. The website must have a record of covering the collector car, auto restoration, and auto industry with sustained, original news content, produced by its fulltime staff
	2. Coverage must be part of the news portion of the site and must not purport to be live, play‐by‐play or real time in nature
	3. The site must provide on the media credential request form certifiable traffic numbers of monthly visitors from an established auditing firm (Nielsen, etc.). Hit counters will not fulfill this requirement.
	4. Websites that will not be approved for media credentials at Mecum Auctions include personal page publishers, discussion board and chat room administrators, fan sites, and subscription‐based sites.

8. BOOKS & MANUSCRIPTS
Persons writing or gathering material for books or manuscripts must present a letter from the publisher explaining the need for the media credential.

9. TELEVISION COVERAGE
Mecum Auctions has granted MotorTrend Group, LLC unique broadcast rights associated with Mecum Auctions. Television stations covering Mecum Auctions events are permitted to record the auction transactions but must adhere to the Mecum Auctions television guidelines below:

VENUE ACCESS: LIVE AUCTION
No television camera crews other than those of MotorTrend Group, LLC are permitted on the auction block or within camera-view during the live auction. Live or taped television coverage of the auction is permitted only at locations inside the venue other than on or within view of the auction block. Live or taped interviews may take place utilizing the auction block as a backdrop provided they do not in any manner interfere with MotorTrend TV or MotorTrend+.

VENUE ACCESS: NON-LIVE AUCTION
Television cameras may gain access to the venue to shoot consigned items and also to conduct interviews as coordinated with and facilitated by Mecum Auctions. Television interviews may take place on the auction block, utilizing the consigned items as backdrops for interviews, and at other locations approved by Mecum Auctions and do not in any manner interfere with the set-up process and coordination of the Mecum Auction.

MOTORTREND AUCTION FOOTAGE
Mecum Auctions may distribute footage (live or delayed) of Mecum Auctions’ event coverage to national and local-market media for the purpose of the dissemination of news information and under the following circumstances:
	1. This footage cannot be used until AFTER the entire MotorTrend TV broadcast has completed, but it MUST occur within 24 hours of the broadcast
	2. Any use of this footage beyond the 24‐hour period must be cleared by Mecum Auctions prior to use
	3. The footage must be carried within a regularly scheduled newscast and not as a special program. Any use of the footage beyond the news‐use period will require the written consent of Mecum Auctions
	4. Any and all uses of footage must be accompanied by the appropriate Mecum Auctions video courtesy
	5. Any and all taped segments must not exceed 90 seconds in length in any one newscast.
